Long Story Long

Hi guys!

Remember that thing below our feet? You know, the sidewalk? It's so exciting that we can finally leave the house NOT looking like the Michelin Man.

The snow is melting and our souls are thawing. The season is about to get better as we hear wonderful stories from some very talented raconteurs

Tonight, Jeff Rose and Nisse Greenberg share longform stories.

The unparalleled Sam Dingman will guest host while Eli is away on "business" in Washington.

***

Jeff Rose is a wanderer and writer. He's competed as a Moth GrandSlam finalist and is guest hosting at Cornelia Street Cafe’s New York Story Exchange. Though his writing and web projects have won Best of’s, Webby’s, etc., Jeff is proudest that the Austin American-Statesman’s A-List once critiqued him as “too polite by one-half" when a server forgot his meatloaf.

***

Nisse Greenberg is attempting to be more vulnerable. He is the creator of Bad Feelings, Drawn Out Storytelling, and VHS Presents. The Future of Storytelling said his “commitment to the storytelling craft is infectious” which makes him sound like a virus on the right side of the law!nissegreenberg.com

***

Sam Dingman is an audio producer, comedian, and writer in Brooklyn, NY. He is a winner of the Moth GrandSLAM, an MLB Fan Cave finalist, and his work has been featured on RISK!, SplitSider, UCB’s "A Funny Thing," TBTL, The Billfold, the First Person Arts Festival, The Los Angeles Comedy Festival, Seattle Sketchfest, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, and beyond. He makes radio shows in his living room, where he also watches Baltimore Orioles games through gritted teeth, usually while drinking tawny port.

***
Doors at 7:30, show at 8.

Suggested donation: $10

***

There are many storytelling shows out there that offer a slice of life. At the corner of Fringe Festival Street and The Moth Avenue, Eli Reiter offers us a larger piece of the pie giving each performer 25 minutes to tell their true story. Long Story Long allows you, the audience, to get to know the storyteller a little better. We'll also have a featured storyteller in the middle, to be the extra crust around the pie. Who doesn't like extra pie?

Come as a crowd, leave as a community.

-Eli

Tell It: Brooklyn - Lambs Vs. Lions

They say if March comes in like a lamb, it goes out like a lion, and vice versa. We don't think "they" know what the hell they're talking about, but we did think it made for a great theme.

Join us this month to hear tales of struggle and triumph from our amazing lineup of storytellers:

Brad LawrenceSandi MarxRobin GelfenbienSam Dingman and Lily Karlin.

And as always, we also want to hear from YOU. Drop your name in our can for a chance to tell your own 5-minute true story on our theme.

Can drops at 7:30; stories start at 8. No cover, no drink minimum ... tons of fun!

Bad Feelings: "The Icky Parts"

I'm very pleased to be a part of the lineup for the latest installment of Nisse Greenberg's recurring series, presented by The Tank. I'd describe the show in my own words, but Nisse's already done a far better job than I could ever hope to do on his blog:

Mold is a consistent theme in my concept of life. Specifically the molding of emotions. It conjures up an image of an unwanted growth that has grown simply out of neglect – a forgetfulness – a disregard of the importance. This show will be the purging of mold. The cleansing of psychological palates. We will seek to expose our souls to the harsh, judgmental eyes of an audience in search of a feeling of clean – a bleaching of our desperate consciences. All these cleaning words are really making this show sound like a cult. I’m not saying that to say that it is not a cult, just recognizing the cultish nature of my language so that you know that I’m self aware.

Joining me in my journey will be:
Sam Dingman
Mark Pagán
and
Sharon Mashihi

"Hypotheticals" Premiere

I recently had the privilege of working with the endlessly adventurous Team Sunshine Performance Corporation on an audio theater piece, which will premiere at their annual post-holiday Regifting Party. It was directed by Tommy Butler, and features the voice talents of Ben Camp and Jenna Horton, as well as the music of Michael Ferrara. I co-created the story and produced the audio.
